// BRIGHTEOUS BREW 02 - MATAQUESCUINTLA
Brighteous Brews are our take on a 'house coffee', but we like using made-up words that are fun to say and reflect our west coast surfer values. So, Brighteous Brews were born. This one's from Guatemala and has quite the story to read below as you sip sip sip.

// THE STORY:
A year ago, an email popped into our inbox from our friends at Bows x Arrows. In recent years, Mataquescuintla (a community in Guatemala) has been peacefully protesting a mining project that threatens both the environment and the livelihood of many coffee farmers in the region. The story is much more complicated than we can begin to explain here, but the impact on the farmers in this region is serious and unsettling. In order to help out in our small way, we have committed to working with this group of farmers to buy their coffee year after year at the prices they deserve, and to provide the community with stability in a time of hardship. If you would like to dive into the details of this story, visit our friends and leaders of this project on their website: www.bowsandarrowscoffee.com/blogs/articles
When cupping this coffee, we were blown away by the sweetness, and again, the balance this region has come to be known for. So delicately different from Jorge de Jesus Zuleta Castaneda’s coffee the year prior, we are over the moon to have the opportunity to work and play with this coffee to get every last bit of wonder we can from it. We taste Shortbread & Peanut Brittle in the cup, and when we sip away, we feel like we’re in the middle of an egregious pile of warm weighted blankets.
